Kindergarten Korner

Yea…we have survived the first week (well, three days technically) of kindergarten and it is totally different than preschool.  Those days of carefree living are over, as your child may be discovering.  Now we learn to raise our hands before speaking and do more sitting and listening.  Please be patient as it takes a while for many of us to make the adjustment!  It’s all about learning the routines!!

Lots of happenings as we begin this new school year…

Next Tuesday your child will be going to the library and have the opportunity to “check out” a book.  Please enjoy this book at home then return it by the following Tuesday so that your child make check out a different book!

Also next Tuesday your child will bring home a chapel envelope.  You are encouraged to assist your child in placing some money inside and returning the envelope on Wednesday.  It will be placed in our kindergarten chapel box and the box is taken with us to chapel and placed on the altar as we begin our chapel service.  The money will be donated to a charitable cause.

SCHOOL PICTURE DAY-Tuesday, August 27…children are asked to wear one of their school polo shirts for this picture.  This will be the picture that will appear in the school yearbook!!  See the information that is in your child’s folder today!!

FAMILY FUN NIGHT-Thursday, August 29-You DO NOT want to miss this!!  Larry’s Pizza on Bowman beginning at 5:00 p.m.  It’s a great way to get to know other families, make some money for the school and to enjoy some great pizza!  Oh, and the best part???  The teachers are your cordial SERVERS!!  Come and put us to work!

BIRTHDAYS-Kindergarten and 1st grade will have their snack time together each afternoon. This means we will celebrate our birthdays as a whole group.  So when you bring treats for your child’s birthday we are asking that you bring enough for the twenty children that make up K/1.  Keep it simple…no juice or party favors need to be provided, but you may need to send napkins, plates, or spoons if any of those items are required for your treat!  Thanks for your cooperation!

This Sunday is very special at Christ Lutheran Church as the CLS teachers are being dedicated for the 2013-2014 school year.  Consider this your personal invitation to come and join us for the 8:00 service followed by Sunday School/Bible Classes (9:20) or the late service at 10:30 where the children are invited to be a part of the “Children Adventures” (a special Sunday school for the kids during the church service). Hope to see here at CLC on Sunday!!

Have a relaxing and blessed weekend! See everyone on Monday with bright smiling faces!!
