kindergarten Korner

It’s April and still a lot to do before we end the kindergarten school year!  So we are staying busy, busy, busy!!!

Religion-We will be studying about two little boys who became kings over God’s people-Joash and Josiah!

Reading-Letter Qq as heard of the beginning Queen Mrs. McNabb!!!  Our new sight words will be One, one and Little, little!

Math-We will use our tangrams to copy designs, use shapes to divide into halves, and set up our little store and use money to “buy” some goodies!!  We will get out our last math manipulative-dominoes to match numbers (the dots) and also use them to add numbers!  The kids will enjoy using them and probably ask me to get them out frequently after they are once introduced!!

Science/Social Studies-In preparing for our field trip to the P. Allen Smith Farm we will talk a bit about baby animals.  We will also continue to watch our carrot and lettuce seeds-tracking their growth.   We have planted them in soil, on a wet sponge and on a wet paper towel that is kept in a plastic bag.  We want to see which will grow and which will grow the best!  Inquisitive minds want to know!

Field Trip-P. Allen Smith Farm at Roland on Monday, April 15.  We will learn about organic gardening and get a chance to check out some of the animals at the farm!  Please return your child’s permission form by Monday, April 8.  Drivers still needed so please consider that!!  We will leave school at 9:15 and return around 2:00 p.m.  Children are asked to wear their CLS spirit shirt with jeans or shorts and regular school shoes/socks.  Each child needs to bring a lunch/drink!

Campbell Labels/Labels for Education-Keep saving and be watching for a year end push-it involves an ice cream party for the class with the most and we want that to be KINDERGARTEN!!   Yea!!!

FYI-Friday, April 12 I will be out of the classroom-but the very capable Mrs. Melinda Ware will step in as my substitute!  The children will be in wonderful hands!
